Global OBD Vehicle Communication Software Manual

Posted by Anonymous 0 komentar
Global OBD Vehicle Communication Software Manual | Global OBD and What it Means As a result of increasing emission levels around the world, many countries have enacted strict emission related regulations that will drive increased technology into the modern automobile in order to reduce the exhaust emissions. European and North American countries lead the way by adopting technology that will standardize the way these vehicles can be checked for compliance. The OBD-I (On-Board Diagnostics I) system was introduced in the early 1980’s and by 1988 all new cars and light trucks sold in California had to have OBD-I. The fundamental elements of the OBD-I are the electrical components (which influence exhaust emissions) that are monitored by the engine management system. An optical warning signal is given in the event of an OBD-I relevant failure. This fault can be read out by way of a flashing code.

(European On-Board Diagnostics) is Europe’s equivalent to OBD-II. It was introduced in 2000 and became effective in January 2001. There are a few differences between EOBD and OBDII but none that will affect the generic scan tool operation. All the communication protocols for both programs are identical. Vehicle emission strategies and certification procedures vary between countries, states and regions. Always use the vehicle factory service information specific to the country and emission certification. EURO-3 is a continuation of the emission regulations known as EURO-1 and EURO-2. In addition to introducing stricter emission limits, the directive now also covers the monitoring of emission related components and functions during operation, i.e. EOBD. The OBD-II and EOBD system must show the failure of an emission related component or system to the driver using a MIL (Malfunction Indicator). Mercedes-Benz Vehicle Communication Software Manual - The Mercedes-Benz Vehicle Communication Software provides extensive vehicle-specific engine, transmission, antilock brake system (ABS) and airbag trouble codes, and selected functional tests. This manual is designed to guide you through control systems tests of Mercedes-Benz vehicles. The first two sections of this manual overview safety and usage conventions. The remainder of this guide is divided into the following chapters: • “Chapter 3 Scanner™ Operations” on page 5 takes you through basic Scanner™ operations from identifying the vehicle to selecting tests from a MAIN MENU screen. • “Chapter 4 Testing” on page 35 offers testing information and procedures for transmission control systems. • “Chapter 5 Data Parameters” on page 77 defines Mercedes-Benz data parameters and explains how they display on the screen. • “Appendix A Printer and Remote Terminal Setup” on page 151 lists which printers and remote devices are compatible with the Scanner™ and how to set them up appropriately. • “Appendix B Troubleshooting and Communication Problems” on page 155 offers advice for troubleshooting Scanner™-to-vehicle communication and other issues. • “Appendix C Scanner™ Adapters & Accessories” on page 159 lists the external components available for testing with the Scanner™. • “Appendix D Terms, Abbreviations and Acronyms” on page 165 lists abbreviations used in this manual.

Identifying the Vehicle The Scanner™ typically identifies a vehicle using certain characters of the vehicle identification number (VIN). The Scanner™ vehicle identification (ID) process prompts to you enter VIN characters and answer questions about the vehicle to be tested. For some vehicles, the Scanner™ may display two or more engine choices. Be sure to scroll to confirm the number of engine choices. The engine number is stamped on the engine block or cylinder head, however, the exact location varies and is often difficult to see on an installed engine. For example, the number is often behind the water pump on V8 engines. For 129 and 140 models, there may be multiple engine selections that are seen by scrolling after selecting the year. Typically, multiple engine choices apply to other markets and only one engine is used on North American vehicles for any given year. Toyota Prado Gxl 4.0 Litre V6 Automatic

Posted by Anonymous 0 komentar
Toyota has pinned its hopes on reclaiming the number one position in the mid-size four wheel drive segment with an all-new Prado range of off-road wagons. The second generation Prado is still a five door, eight seat configuration that uses a separate chassis. This formula has been a successful one for Toyota, having been used on the first Prado that was launched in 1996. While the basic layout of the original Prado remains, the new models are physically larger vehicles that feature more interior space. Other changes include a significantly more powerful V6 petrol engine option, new styling, a stiffer body, an increase in overall refinement, more standard equipment and a host of new driver aids.

There are three engine options in the Prado line-up, four cylinder petrol and turbo-diesel engines, and a new all-alloy V6 petrol engine. While the official output figures of the four cylinder engines remain unaltered, Toyota claims that both engines have been upgraded to improve driveability and emissions. The new V6 petrol engine is an impressive performer and one of the highlights of the all-new Prado. The new engine is a 4.0 litre Quad Cam V6 that is equipped with Toyota’s VVT-i (variable valve timing). The engine produces 179 kW of power, 35% more than the superseded V6 Prado, and is cleaner (meeting the requirements of a low emission vehicle or LEV in the United States). The new V6 engine can be mated to either a five speed manual gearbox or an electronically controlled four speed automatic transmission. Both configurations make use of a two speed transfer case and constant four wheel drive with a torque sensing centre differential. Download free Starbucks a Strategic Analysis.pdf here

Ford C-6 Competition Manual Valve Body Reverse Pattern

Posted by Anonymous 0 komentar
The C-6 competition valve body is designed to replace perfectly without alteration, the stock channel casting, gasket and separator plate on any valvebody up to 1977 (identified by the bolt on pressure regulator & boost valve retainer) and also ’67 GT series. This results in a manually controllable reversed shift pattern (PRN123). Since the pressure regulator valve is the only active valve used in the stock main upper valve body, all other valves may be optionally discarded or left in place as desired. Valve body may be returned to stock condition at future date by retaining valves.

The governor assembly and modulator assembly is no longer needed. Their removal is optional, as is the kick down rod and lever assembly for passing gear. Proper reinstallation of the converter check ball and spring is important. This is necessary whether the valve body is used with a conventional converter type transmission or clutch type transmission. Please Note: Two pressure regulator springs are furnished. The longer oxide spring produces 135-psi oil pressure and is to be used in all street-strip transmission. The shorter silicon chrome spring produces 165-psi oil pressure and is used in competition transmission only. High H.P. cars may install one or two 5/16' SAE flat washer between spring and retainer plate to further increase oil pressure to a maximum of 185-psi. Installation of the springs will require removal of both the stock springs and regulator boost valve assembly. Because of our exclusive oil circuitry, excessive oil pressure is neither necessary nor desirable and has little effect on shift response or shift feel. No attempt to further modify the valve body should be made. New band should be presoaked in type ‘F' fluid at least two hours prior to installation. Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) table Important notes: Note: In the following, all possible malfunctions are listed in ascending order of DTC. These malfunctions can be recognized by the transmission control module -J217-. They are then displayed on the VAS5051 tester or VAG1551 scan tool when checking DTC memory content page 01-53 . Starting on the next page is a list of all the DTCs with all MIL conditions. The DTC is only printed out in the "Rapid data transfer"operating mode when the printer of the VAG1551 ST is switched on. Example: DTC 16987 P0603 If malfunctions only occur sometimes or if DTC memory was not erased after malfunction repair, these malfunctions are displayed as "sporadic malfunctions" for a pre-determined time period malfunction recognition of transmission control module, page 01-1 . If components are indicated as being faulty during the check of DTC memory, also test the wiring to the components for short circuit and open circuit according to wiring diagram Electrical Wiring Diagrams, Troubleshooting & Component Locations binder.

List of all DTCs with the MIL condition Notes: Dcy = Driving cycle, conditions for recognition of a Dcy page 01-7 . Meaning of the Malfunction indicator Lamp (MIL) page 01-5 . The "MIL" column in the DTC table indicates the condition of for which the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) would be switched on. If, for example, "2 Dcy" is indicated in the table, the MIL would light up after two driving cycles. If "Off" is indicated, the malfunction has no influence on the MIL.. If "On" is indicated, the MIL will light up immediately after the malfunction occurs. Raise and properly support back of car. I used a long metal bar that I had which reached across from one of the lower A-arms to the other and jacked up in the middle. I then put jack stands under the rear jacking points using jacking pucks.

Remove wheels On the passenger’s side of the car you will need to remove the brake pipe bracket so that the suspension can be lowered. It is attached by 2 10mm nuts. Support the lower control arm using a jack and remove the lower shock mounting bolt (21mm). Lower the jack and put it under the cradle. Remove the 2 cradle to body mounting bolts and washers. The Front is 24mm and the rear is 21mm. Download free Ground Control Coil Over Conversion Install.pdf here

Before you begin -Read instructions completely before starting each step. -Pay attention to how parts are removed from the vehicle and make sure to keep track of all parts, in many cases they may be used in the installation. Step 1. Jacking & Support of Car Note: If you are using an automotive lift, partsa&bmaybe skipped.

a).To raise the front of the car, (depending on the jack you use) you may need to initially raise the car from the side (using the secondary jack) to gain clearance for the hydraulic jack at the front of the car. Once this is done, support the car with the jack stands located on the frames cross member as shown in Figure 1. b).With the front of the car supported, now raise the rear of the car. This is done with the jack positioned from the side of the car. The jacking point will be the rear axle or differential housing. Once the rear of the car is in the air, supoport it with the other two jack stands, on the car’s subframe as shown in Figure 2 and Figure 3.You may wish to place a block of wood between the jack stand and subframe to avoid any scatches. Please take a few moments to review this manual thoroughly before you begin work: Μake quick parts check to make certain your kit is complete (See shipper parts list in this package). If you discover shipping damage or shortage, please call our office immediately.Take a look at exactly what you are going to need in terms of tools, time, and experience.Review our limited warranty with care. When unpacking the supercharger kit DO NOT lift the supercharger assembly by the black plastic bypass actuator. This is pre-set from the factory and can be altered if used as a lifting point!

Relieve the fuel system pressure before servicing fuel system components in order to reduce the risk of fire and personal injury. After relieving the system pressure, a small amount of fuel may be released when servicing the fuel lines or connections. In order to reduce the risk of personal injury, cover the regulator and fuel line fittings with a shop towel before disconnecting. This will catch any fuel that may leak out. Place the towel in an approved container when the job is complete. Download free Intercooled Supercharger System 2004-2005 Cadillac CTS-V Installation Instructions.pdf here

Basic Cylinder Head Porting

Posted by Anonymous 0 komentar
Here's an interesting head porting fact: In many cases, the greatest performance gain per dollar spent comes upon application of basic porting procedures to a production cylinder head. These basics can be done by any do-it-yourselfer, even those with no porting experience, using the Deluxe Porting Kit and the Gasket Removal Kit (part nos. 260001 and 260005) from the Standard Abrasives Motorsports Division, along with a die grinder and some common hand tools.

There is a significant difference between basic head porting for a streethigh- performance or weekend racer application and the very complex cylinder head work you see in a Pro Stock drag race motor or a NASCAR NEXTEL Cup race engine. Doing full-on race heads requires the services of an experienced cylinder head professional, so Pro Stock, NEXTEL Cup and similar heads are best left to experts. Basic head porting, however, is easy...so easy that even beginning hot rodders can do it well. Download free Basic Cylinder Head Porting.pdf here

Electronic Fuel Injection Nitrous System Installation Instructions

Congratulations on the purchase of your Nitrous Express EFI system. You have chosen the finest nitrous system ever. Nitrous Express utilizes only the highest quality components designed for the use of liquid nitrous oxide. To properly utilize these specially designed components and obtain the trouble-free operation that this system is capable of producing, it is extremely important that you read all instructions carefully. Pay special attention to the important notes at the end of the installation steps and the tuning tips listed at the back of this instruction sheet.

All NX Stage 1 EFI systems are designed to operate with stock fuel pumps and no timing retards are required. If you have an aftermarket ECU chip that advances the stock timing, detonation could be a problem. These chips can still be retained if higher octane fuel or NX Power Booster (PN # 16000) fuel additive is used. On Dual Stage or EFI Race systems an aftermarket, high capacity fuel pump must be installed. Depending on your combination and level of nitrous boost, timing retard may also be required.

To insure proper system assembly and operation, carefully read the following installation procedures thoroughly before beginning. Use NX thread sealer on all pipe thread connections, DO NOT use any sealer on flare connections, hose, or bottle connections. Use no other sealing compounds or Teflon tape. All threads must be clean and dry, apply only enough sealer to wet the threads, too little is better than too much.
