CHANGING A BACKGROUND IN ADOBE PHOTOSHOP TUTORIAL

Download Photoshop Tutorial. The method that gives the best (cleanest) results is to use the pen tool to create a 'work path' around the object and then copy it to a new file. (This will be tutorial #3 in this series-this is also the method I've come to use most.)

Another method uses the "extract filter" - this works pretty well for simple objects, but leaves you with a little more roughness around the edges. Those can easily be smoothed out using the eraser tool once it's copied to a new background. (This will be tutorial #2 in this series)

This method takes more time and care after copying to a new layer, but I recommend this for beginners for a couple of reasons - to get used to using Photoshop tools, and to gain experience (also, this method will work in any photo editing program that has the ability to work on layers), as well as learning how to control your motions using the mouse.

By learning the skills involved in this particular tutorial you will be equipping yourself to handle a lot of different editing tasks in the future.

This method would be extremely difficult for complicated images (like people, or animals/pet that have hair and fur), so pick something simple to start with, and something that has a simple uncluttered background.
